SOKUCU is set up as a non-profit foundation. Profits are reinvested into the projects and the community as much as possible.
Funding
The restaurant provides a relatively stable income with breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar opens from late afternoon and hosts events such as live music and pub quizzes.
Part of the halls is rented to cultural clubs such as theatre and dance groups, who often lack usable and affordable spaces.
Workshops with craftspeople and artists: the maker receives a direct share of the income and contributes a small part to the upkeep and growth of SOKUCU.
Visual art as therapy is part of the income: like the makers, the therapist contributes a small part to SOKUCU.
With artistic retreats, visitors can throw themselves fully into making; letting go of daily life and learning a craft or creating art for a whole weekend.
Holding events and concerts generates additional income.
Interns get a behind-the-scenes look and valuable work experience; SOKUCU keeps the cost of this work low.
Through partnerships with educational institutions, SOKUCU can ask for a financial contribution towards research or education programmes.
We fund the start of the project through fundraising.
